Ear surgery (Otoplasty) is mainly done to reduce the size of large ears or to set prominent ears back closer to the head. This operation is commonly done on children ages 4-14, but is also often done on adults.

How long will the surgery take?

Otoplasty procedures usually take 2-3 hours.

What can I expect after surgery?

The patient's head will be wrapped in a large bulky dressing. The bulky dressing is removed after a few days and is replaced with a headband. The ears may ache or throb a little for 3-5 days.

When can I return to work/school?

Adults may return back to work in approximately 5 days. Children may return to school after 7 days.
